Adley Stump returns with an EP and a tribute to stay-at-home soldiers

Season 2 contestant on The Voice will be releasing a new EP on Tuesday, the same day of the Season 8 finale.

And Adley Stump, who competed for Team Blake on the show, has already released a single and a video dedicated to a special cause.

The song is called “Stay at Home Soldier,” and it’s a tribute to soldiers who serve, but don’t wind up going overseas and, as a result, don’t receive the appreciation some of their colleagues do.

There’s a secondary purpose behind the song as well, Adley explains in a video on her Facebook page.

The song “more than anything is a mindset for us back home to represent the values of our soldiers in our communities and, for me, starting with my own education about our troops. How do you say thank you to somebody who has dedicated their whole life to serving and protecting you?”

She’s even created a Stay at Home Soldier project and a clothing line, designed to raise money so the project can give back to stay-at-home soldiers.

As for the EP, it’s a seven-track country effort called “Like This” and includes “Stay at Home Soldier” and a cover of “Hallelujah,” which Adley released as a single shortly after her run on The Voice.

You can listen to “Stay at Home Soldier” above. If you’d like to hear the rest of the EP, just head to Taste of Country, which is streaming it prior to its release.

You should check it out. Adley, now 26, was eliminated in the battle round back in Season 2 when Blake Shelton pitted her against future country star RaeLynn. But Adley has delivered a solid country EP; highlights besides the single include the rollicking title track and the equally fiery “Walking Away.”

Right now, the single and a pre-order of the EP are available on iTunes for a bargain price, 69 cents and $3.99, respectively.
