After The Voice

Angie Keilhauer shows off her bilingual skills in new music video

Keilhauer traveled back to her native El Salvador to film her first post-Voice music video.

So it isn’t too surprising that the video features her singing “Made to Live By the Water” in both English and Spanish.

Ah, but Angie’s taken it one step farther than that.

The Season 10 contestant recorded three songs in Spanish — “Made to Live By the Water,” “Born to Drive” and “California Soul” — for a mini EP before performing in San Salvador back in August.

English versions of all three are featured on the seven-track “Wild” EP Angie released in June.

When I interviewed Angie about the project, she said the name was inspired by Blake Shelton. Or, more specifically, his reaction to her blind audition on The Voice.

He told Angie “there is something very undisciplined about the way you perform … you are wild.”

Angie has been touring non-stop since the EP’s release. She traveled the East Coast this summer and is playing a series of shows in California this month.

On The Voice, she made it to the knockout round before being eliminated. Actually, you might remember her as the young woman who spent lots of time living on the water.

Pre-Voice, she performed for passengers on Carnival Cruise ships, an experience she credits with helping her get comfortable with performing live and learning to make cover songs her own.

Of course, there are no covers on “Wild.” Angie wrote all seven songs for the EP, which landed at number five on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart at the time of its release.

You can follow Angie through her Facebook page and website. On Twitter, she is @AngieKeilhauer.
