Bucky Covington album delayed again, single announced

Wednesday brought good and bad news for fans of Bucky Covington.

As Bucky told Idol Chatter in an interview earlier this month, a cover of Nickleback’s “Gotta Be Somebody,” will be his next single and should be released soon. He performed the song during his York Fair show.

The video for the single was shot during Bucky’s recent hometown show in Rockingham, N.C., and should be available online within the next month, according to a release posted today on Bucky’s MySpace page.

Now, the bad news: Bucky’s album has been delayed again.

Originally, the album was supposed to be released in September. Then the release date was pushed to Nov. 3. Now, the countdown timer to the anticipated Nov. 3 release date has disappeared from his MySpace.

The new release date: Nothing specific, but spring 2010, according to today’s announcement. Oh, and the album now has a title: “I’m Alright.”

The first single from the album, “I Want My Life Back,” peaked at number 32 on the country chart. His debut album produced three top 10 country hits.

No word yet on the reason for the album’s delay. If I get one, I’ll post it here.

Meanwhile, I don’t blame any country artist from shying away from a Nov. 3 release.

That’s the day we’re supposed to get Carrie Underwood’s new CD, which is sure to overshadow any other country release that week.
