Caroline Glaser talks about her new music and finding her voice

Caroline Glaser from The Voice Season 4Caroline Glaser, a Season 4 standout on The Voice, says she’s found her voice.

The indie-folk singer released a new single last week.

And there’s more new music coming: another single in May, her first full-length album in June and a contest that’s underway and features new music of a different sort.

Caroline was 19 when she auditioned for The Voice and landed a spot on Team Blake. To that point, her performance experience amounted to playing a few shows at open mics and coffee houses. “On a good night, 30 people showed up,” she said at the time.

Well, she made it all the way to the live playoffs on the show and scored an iTunes hit with her cover of “The A Team.”

She’s has kept plenty busy since, releasing a pair of singer-songwriter EPs and touring with American Idol winner Kris Allen and American Idol runner-up Crystal Bowersox.

The new music is the result of a Pledge Music campaign and was intended as a third EP featuring six tracks. That changed when she exceeded her fund-raising goal. The result: A nine-track self-titled album that’s due out June 10.

And Caroline tells Voice Views her music has changed a lot since her first two EPs, the second of which was released September 2014.

“This one is much more ‘me,'” she says. “The first two were produced by different producers who were great, but in a way kind of made my EPs their own project. Probably because I also didn’t have much of a voice at that point — or a knowledge behind what I wanted as far as production went.

“This record was produced by me and a friend of mine, Michael Kight. He has been on the road with me for the last couple years and knows my style probably better than anyone else. I’m really excited to release it.”

for the single, it’s a song called “Drive” and you can check out the lyric video at right. Caroline said she wrote the song last year with a good friend, Caleigh McGilchrist.

“I chose it as a single just cause I felt that it was a good intro to the whole record,” she says. “It’s also one of my personal favorites to sing. It has really weird guitar tuning that is super fun to play.”

The album can be pre-ordered through iTunes or the Pledge campaign, where all sorts of other goodies are available. Head here to check it out.

Caroline also just launched a Caroline and The Chocolate Factory contest. She recorded four songs from the original “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” film and turned them into a limited edition CD that will be available on her website through early June.

Fifteen golden tickets will be randomly placed in those CDs. Recipients of a golden ticket win a signed copy of her new album and a limited edition Caroline Glaser t-shirt.

In addition to her website, you can keep up with Caroline through Facebook and Twitter.
