One of the country artists featured on Season 9 of The Voice has released his first post-show single.

The singer is James Dupre. The song is called “Sometime Today” and hit iTunes earlier this week.

James, 30 when he auditioned for The Voice, turned four chairs with his cover of “Let Her Cry” by Hootie and the Blowfish.

He went the non-country route by deciding to join Team Adam and advanced to the knockout round before being eliminated in a match with eventual Top 9 finisher Shelby Brown.

He wrote “Someday Today” with Brent Baxter and Neil Coty, and it’s partly an ode to New Orleans. James told The Boot he missed his home state of Louisiana during 2015, when he split much of his time between Nashville and Los Angeles.

“I ad wanted to write a song that summed up how I felt about Lousiana and, more specifically, the experience of New Orleans,” he told the site. “I really felt like this was the perfect song to start with.”

Oh, yeah, there’s more James Dupre music to come. “Someday Today” is the lead single off an album called “Stoned to Death,” which James plans to release in the next couple of months. James told The Boot the album — with “a dark side and glimmers of light here and there” — is 95 percent complete.

You can check out James’ silky smooth country vocals on “Someday Today” below.

The new album won’t be James’ first. He released the 11-track “It’s All Happening” in 2010. That’s also available on iTunes.

You can keep up with James through his Facebook page and website. On Twitter, he is @JamesDupre.
