Chloe Kohanski’s riveting performance of “Landslide” earned her a spot in The Voice playoffs.

It also earned her the distinction of having the best performing cover song on iTunes from Season 13 so far.

But it also left her with a difficult decision to make.

Miley Cyrus declared Ashland Craft the winner of their battle round match. Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton quickly rescued Chloe from the brink of elimination by pushing their steal buttons.

But that meant the 23-year-old had to pick which team she’d join for the remainder of her time on the show.

She opted for Team Blake Shelton. The same Blake Shelton who predicted Chloe could make it to the Season 13 finale after her blind audition performance of “The Chain.”

Why Blake?

“I knew so many people that had worked with Blake; everyone says he is an incredible person with great integrity,” Chloe told Voice Views. “He was also a fan of my voice and believed in me since my blind audition.

“I felt like Blake understands the roots of my music and what I want to achieve with my style of singing. I don’t sound like anybody else… and I think Blake realizes that and wants to work with me just as I am, and let me do my thing.”

Chloe’s instincts during the emotional performance of “Landslide” touched fans as well as the coaches.

Her version of the Fleetwood Mac hit reached number one on the iTunes rock charts. At one point, it was as high as number 13 on the iTunes singles chart.

“The knockout round was the first time I was able to really let go and sing the way I sing at my hometown shows,” Chloe said. “I think people connected to Landslide because it wasn’t a ‘performance’ … it was just me telling my story.

“Plus, everybody feels something when they hear that song. I’m just honored I was able to sing it on such a big platform.”

Speaking of firsts, Chloe’s participation on The Voice marks the first time she’s ventured out on her own as an artist.

Pre-Voice, she released music with a band called Cumberland Blue and as part of a duo called Grant & Chloe.

“I am literally figuring out who I am on national television,” said Chloe, who lives in Nashville. “It’s a very strange feeling and I love every second of it.

“I don’t ever want to step to the side again. I have a story to tell. I want to travel and sing my songs and make everybody feel something again.”

The knockouts resume Monday night on The Voice; the pre-taped playoffs will air Nov. 13 and 14. The 12 artists who advance from the playoffs will perform in live shows beginning Nov. 20.
