Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard back together for a good cause this fall

14

Clay Aiken has announced the guests who will perform at the National Inclusion Project’s 9th annual Champions Gala.

And the list includes his former rival on Season 2 of American Idol — Ruben Studdard.

The event is set for Oct. 20 at the National Theater in Washington, D.C.

Clay and each of the guests will perform that evening as part of the fundraiser.

In addition to Ruben … well, I guess you could call the other guests former rivals, too.

Those guests include Debbie Gibson, Arsenio Hall and Dee Snider, all competitors with Clay on the recent season of Celebrity Apprentice.

For those who didn’t follow along, Arensio won; Clay finished second.

The National Inclusion Project — Clay is a co-founder — pushes for the inclusion of children with disabilities in community activities.

Oh, and this will hardly be the first time Clay and Ruben have worked together since Idol.

Back in the summer of 2010, after the release of Clay’s “Tried and True” album, they toured together.

It should also be mentioned that Clay is very good friends with all of them – Ruben and Arsenio are two of his best friends!

It sounds like a wonderful evening for a good cause. I admire Clay very much for his dedication to help children and their families. I have a nephew who is disabled so I know how important this type of organization is.I had the pleasure of seeing Clay and Ruben perform in 2010. It was so great to see what great friends they are after all these years. Two very classy and talented gentlemen. Awesome of the CApp people to lend a hand to help the cause.
Hopefully Dee and Clay will sing their song Luck Be A Lady from Dee’s Broadway cd.

Thanks for the article! I have been to NIP galas and they are wonderful, and I’m not missing this one! I also hope Dee and Clay sing Luck Be A Lady, I’m not a heavy metal fan but really, really like that duet, which surprised me.
I enjoyed CelebApp a lot this year, for me the friendship w/Clay and Arsenio made for some of the best parts, so fun together, plus Clay is a great party giver and ad-lib puppetteer.
His tour w/Ruben was a blast too, good music, hilarious banter (they always were a riot together), and Clay — dancing!!

Thanks for the great article. I saw Clay and Ruben on their Timless Tour and they were fantastic together! Such a fun concert.

It’s so nice to see that Clay makes and keeps such diverse friends. I’ll be attending his Gala this year and am really looking forward to seeing him and all of friends perform together. As always, it should prove to be a fun time.
