Curtis Grimes, formerly of The Voice, releases new EP

Curtis Grimes, one of the first country singers we ever met on The Voice, has a new EP out.

five-track effort is called “Bottom of the Fifth” and hit iTunes Friday.

The title track is excellent, it sounds like a country hit. I’ve embedded an acoustic version at right.

“Smile that Smile” was offered as a single to folks who downloaded the album. You can check out a snippet of that song here.

And the EP ends with a lovely ballad called “Heaven Sent.”

Curtis posted a video on Facebook about that song, saying it was written about his “beautiful, amazing girlfriend” while sitting in a Nashville hotel room one night.

“I can say it’s the most spot-on, accurate, 100 percent true song that I’ve written in a long time. We kept it stripped down on the EP because we wanted it to be intimate and sentimental. We didn’t want the production to take away from the lyrics or the gist of the song, which is a heartfelt message to her.”

Curtis made the Top 12 on Season 1 of The Voice as a member of Team Cee Lo Green.

Since his appearance on the show, he’s also released an impressive 12-track album called “Our Side of the Fence.” That came out last year.

While he records in Nashville, Curtis calls Texas home and has a host of shows scheduled there over the next month.

You can check those out on his Facebook page and you can follow him on Twitter at @CurtisGrimes.
