Add Eric Lyn to the list of Season 13 artists from The Voice who plan to release music soon.

Eric, 26 when he auditioned, made it all the way to the knockout round before being eliminated from the show.

Along the way, he earned a spot on Team Jennifer Hudson with a blind audition performance of “Oh Child.”

And he team up with Ignatious Carmouche to score an iTunes hit in a battle round with their cover of “Unaware” by Allen Stone.

That cover reached number 156 on the iTunes singles chart, second best of the 24 Season 13 battle round songs and one of just five that cracked the Top 200.

Pre-Voice, Eric was attending California State University, Northridge, teaching vocal lessons and working as a background singer.

Here’s what he told Voice Views about his time on the show:

Voice Views: I know the knockout round was filmed a while ago. What have you been doing musically since then? And are you still pursuing your master’s at California State University, Northridge?

Eric: I’m currently still in school and doing echoes in Los Angeles and Nashville. I️ have a lot coming in the works musically as well.

Voice Views: Where do you see The Voice experience leading you musically?

Eric: The Voice experience is leading me to do more musically as an artist. I’ve been invited to speak at schools as well as perform for different musical functions. I’m also auditioning for Broadway.

Voice Views: Do you anticipate releasing music of your own? If so, any timetable? Any hint as to what fans can expect in terms of genre/sound?

Eric: Yes, I’ll be releasing music shortly, when The Voice show is over. I’d say in January is when my first single release will be in motion. The fans can expect something alternative, musically gripping from the soul, with a touch of vocal jazz inflections.

Voice Views: Other than the other artists you met and the hometown support, what will you remember most about The Voice experience? Do you think you grew as a musician? And, if so, how?

Eric: I’ll remember the level of musicianship and showmanship I’ve learned from all of my colleagues as well as my amazing coach JHUD! I’ve developed tremendously being in this competition and believe I’m more than capable of taking the big stage.
