Sal Valentinetti, a Season 14 contestant on American Idol, wound up finishing fifth —- on “America’s Got Talent.”

Sal is a 21-year-old from Bethpage, N.Y, who specializes in singing music made popular by crooners like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.

He made it to Hollywood on American Idol by singing “Fly Me To the Moon” during his audition. But he was eliminated during Hollywood Week.

And he made it onto America’s Got Talent by performing Sinatra’s “My Way.” That performance earned praise from Simon Cowell and a golden buzzer from Heidi Klum.

Sal also sang Sinatra’s “That’s Life” and One Direction’s “Story of My Life” during the competition, then covered Bobby Darin’s “Mack the Knife” during this week’s finals. You can check out that performance below.

Grace VanderWaal, a 12-year-old singer-songwriter, won Season 11 of America’s Got Talent. The mentalist duo called The Clairvoyants, followed by magician Jon Dorenbos and singer Brian Justin Crum.
