Frenchie Davis gets a 2nd chance on The Voice

Former American Idol contestant Frenchie Davis tries a TV singing competition again on The Voice. So, I checked out The Voice tonight to see if there would be any familiar faces.

And who shows up in the first hour but Frenchie Davis, one of the more infamous American Idol contestants.

For those who don’t remember, Frenchie tried out for Idol back in season two, made the semifinals, then was disqualified over topless photos.

She’s found a home on Broadway since then, performing in “Rent” and with Ruben Studdard in “Ain’t Misbehavin’.”

Nevertheless, there she was on The Voice Monday night, looking for a second chance to be known for her voice rather than an American Idol controversy.

She sang Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” for the judges/mentors. For a while it appeared she might not be picked by any of the mentors.

Then Christina Aguilera selected Frenchie for her team of eight singers.

So stay tuned to see how Frenchie, now 31 and hence too old for Idol, does with her second chance.
