With Season 9 of The Voice right around the corner, have you been wondering what the Season 8 contestants have been up to?

They’ve been releasing great music, of course.

Just four months after Season 8 ended, eight of the 48 singers who landed spots on the show already have new music out.

And I’m not counting Mia Z., who got to record a single written by Pharrell at the end of the show and has since collaborated with Luke Wade on a cover of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization in its fight against breast cancer.

There’s still no word on when we might get a debut album from Season 8 winner Sawyer Fredericks, but he’s certainly been busy performing shows since his triumph on The Voice.

In fact, he’ll be performing a show with Mia Z. in New York later this month and another with Season 8 runner-up Meghan Linsey in Nashville early next month. For details, head to Sawyer’s Facebook page.

As for that new music, here’s a rundown:

Meghan Linsey: She released an EP called “Believer” in July that should have everyone believing her talent. Within six tracks, she delivered one of the best vocals (“Sunshine on My Soul”) and one of the best songs (“Best of Me”) we’ve gotten from former Voice contestants so far in 2015.

Hannah Kirby: She released an impressive single called “Power” last month and is working on more. Last weekend, she tweeted: “Yet another song finished and closer to album completion. Jamming on LO2VE Can’t wait for everyone to hear it!!!”

Jeremy Gaynor: He released a single called “You’re There” in July. And the vocalist with the West Point Band — you’ll recall he turned four chairs in the blind audition — is working on an EP called “Dream Chaser.”

Ameera Delandro: She released a fun summer single called “’69 Camaro” last month and plans to release an EP — “Life on a String” — this fall. You can read my interview with Ameera about her new music here.

Bay Brooks: We barely met this young woman from Georgia; her blind audition and battle round performances were both montaged. But her self-titled debut EP is full of promise, especially the two up-tempo folk-country tunes that open it — “Love Being Loved” and “Beautiful Book.”

Blaze Johnson: He released a single called “Falling for You” the day after Season 8 ended, then followed it up with an acoustic release of the same tune.

Briar Jonnee and Bren’nae DeBarge: Both released five-track EPs in June. Briar’s is called “Enlightenment;” Bren’nae’s is called “Make-Up.” Head here to listen to a track from each. And here’s another.
