After The Voice

Gypsy minstrel Rebecca Loebe raising funds for new album

Rebecca LoebeOne of the first singer-songwriters we met on The Voice is raising funds for a new album.

Rebecca Loebe, a self-proclaimed “gypsy minstrel” now based in Austin, Texas, is celebrating 10 years as a touring musician.

And, with help from fans, she’s hoping to do it by releasing a new full-length album.

As of Wednesday afternoon, she was 53 percent of the way toward her LoebeQuest goal.

But in a Facebook post earlier this week, she said it’s “crunch time.”

“In exactly one week, I will begin recording my newest studio album,” she wrote. “The number of songs and musicians we are able to have on it depends on how many copies we pre-sell.”

What can fans expect from the new album?

“I have been doing hard work in my heart, mind and soul to define my voice as a writer, dig deeper into my own perspective and channel all the giddy, wild-eyed fearlessness I possibly can,” she writes on her campaign page. “I am very excited about the new songs I’ve created.”

You can check out a live performance of one excellent new song — “Cannonball” — below.

Rebecca was 27 when she auditioned for Season 1 of The Voice and landed a spot on Team Adam. She made it to the battle round before being eliminated.

On iTunes, you can check out music she’s already released, both pre- and post-Voice, including three albums — “Circus Heart” (2012), “Mystery Prize” (2010), “Hey, It’s a Lonely World” (2004) — and a pair of EPs.
