The song released Friday is a cover of the Box Tops “The Letter.”
Haley also released a behind-the-scenes video to accompany the song. In it, you’ll see her mom working with her on background vocals and her dad playing guitar.
Haley said earlier she turned her third album into something of a family affair.
Her dad plays guitar on all the songs on the upcoming album; her mom provides backing vocals on about nine of the tracks.
When Haley was growing up, her parents played in a band called “Midnight” that specialized in covering hits from the 1960s and 1970s.
Haley’s new album is called “What’s That Sound” and it’s scheduled for release Sept. 22. Anyone pre-ordering it will get “The Letter” and the first single off the album, “Baby It’s You,” as instant downloads.
“Baby It’s You” and the accompanying video came out in mid-June.
If you missed it, in between Haley was involved in some drama that resulted in her arrest on a misdemeanor battery charge at the Lamplighter Inn Tavern & Grille near Chicago on Saturday, July 8.
Haley is accused of punching a bouncer. Her attorney released a statement expressing confidence that she will be exonerated and saying she and a friend where the ones assaulted by security. You can read more on that here and here.
Now, back to music. Here’s the new cover and video.
