Fans of season seven of American Idol won’t have to travel far to see their favorites in concert over the next two months.

David Cook (at left, above) announced the 37 shows that will make up “The Declaration Tour — 2009 Monday and the gigs include a Tuesday, March 24, date at Penn State York. Now, that’s yet to be confirmed by the folks at Penn State York, but that’s what David’s Web site says.

David Archuleta, (at right, above) Idol’s 2008 runnerup, will be in the area sooner. He’ll play the Chameleon Club in Lancaster on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Tickets for that show go on sale Saturday. According to the club’s Web site, tickets will be $25 and the Feb. 28 show opens at 7 p.m.

The stop at the Chameleon Club, 223 N. Water St., is one of 20 listed on David A.’s Web site. But if you’re a fan of young David, and you want to see him in concert, you’d better snag tickets for the Lancaster show.

The next closest are Feb. 25th in Richmond, Va., and March 1 at Crocodile Rock in Allentown.

David is touring to support his self-titled first album, featuring the song “Crush,” which you can listen to for free here.

As for Mr. Cook, his Web site doesn’t have ticket information posted yet. His tour kicks off in Florida Feb. 13, the day after he performs live on Good Morning America as part of the premiere of Walt Disney World Resort’s newest attraction, The American Idol Experience.

David C. will be spending a fair amount of time in Pennsylvania in the coming months. The tour also features shows at Dickinson College in Carlisle (March 3), Mansfield University (March 19) and Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove (March 23). The tour list also includes an April 3 concert at nearby Towson University in Maryland.

In the release on his Web site announcing the tour, Cook says he’s looking forward to playing college venues. “There’s something inherently nostalgic about playing college shows. So many amazing acts used to do it, so it’s nice to be able to bring that ideal back, in some small way,” he says. “And besides, touring on a bus beats what we used to do, which was cram five guys into a 7-passenger van for one show, 13 hours away…”

Of course, David C. also has an album to plug. His self-titled CD came out in November and features the single “Light On,” which you can hear for free here.

For now, it appears David C. is winning the battle of the music charts just as he prevailed in last season’s Idol finale. The lastest Billboard music charts have his album locked in at number 10 in the Hot 200 and his single at number 23 on the Hot 100. David A.’s album is at 53, his single at 39, though it climbed as high as number 2 at one point.
