It was pretty easy to root for James Durbin back on Season 10 of American Idol.

Between his back-story, his desire to provide a better life for his wife and child and his hope that viewers would “give metal a chance” … well, you just wound up wishing good things for the young man.

Now, on the heels of the release of a new single, the 24-year-old has announced a plan to give back through a pre-order special of his second album.

Oh, yeah, the second album is coming. It’s called “Celebrate” and its expected drop date is April 8.

And on his website, James just announced some pre-order specials, including a TSA Charity T-Shirt Bundle for $30. For each order, James is donating $5 to the National Tourette Syndrome Association.

He’s also offering an autographed copy of the new CD when its released for $10. And all of the pre-sale bundles include an immediate download of that new single, “Parachute.”

Head to James’ website for all the details.

A couple other notes if you’re a James Durbin fan.

1. He’ll be on the red carpet at Sunday’s American Music Awards. The pre-show runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and you can follow along at theAMAs.com.

2. He’s planning a live chat and Q&A with fans at 6 p.m. Tuesday at www.reddit.com/t/iama

3. And, little by little, he’s revealing the cover to that new album on his website.

As for “Parachute,” if you haven’t heard it, here it is.

That’s one heck of a catchy chorus, I’d say.
