Jason Aldean lends star power to latest single from former Voice contestant

The Voice contestant Jordan Rager is about to hit country radio with his latest single.

And this time he has an ace up his sleeve, the participation of Broken Bow Records label mate and country music superstar Jason Aldean.

Jordan and Jason duet on a song called “Southern Boy.” Listen to the song at right and you’ll hear Jason join in new the end of the first verse.

The song was written by Jeremy Stover, Luke Laird and Barry Dean and hit iTunes in late January. As of a week ago, it was sitting at number 100 on iTunes’ country singles chart.

Of course, that chart position could improve dramatically if the catchy tune catches on at country radio.

Aldean’s participation isn’t all that surprising. Not only are he and Jordan both recording for BBR, Aldean’s dad (Barry Williams) has served as Jordan’s manager.

“He (Aldean) said, ‘Man, if you ever need anything, I’d love to help out,’” Jordan told CMT.com. “So then we found this song, and Jason really dug it, and he asked me if we could do that one together. And, well, you don’t tell Jason Aldean no.”

The single is actually Jordan’s third since signing his record deal with BBR in September 2014. He released “Small Town Skyscrapers” last May and “Feels Like One of Them” in December.

Jordan was still a teen when he auditioned for Season 2 of The Voice and landed a spot on Team Blake. He advanced to the battle round before being eliminated.
