After The Voice

Juliet Simms delivers more impassioned rock ‘From the Grave’

0
young woman who should have won Season 2 of The Voice just delivered eight more reasons why.

That’s the number of songs on Juliet Simms’ new EP, “From the Grave,” easily one of the best releases from a post-Voice contestant this year.

She serves up kick-butt rockers with “Get Ready,” “Last Whiskey Tears” and “Say Hello.”

She managed to find addictive pop rock hooks on “Tidal Wave” and “Trouble Finds You.”

And fans of her impassioned ballads will be drawn to the EP’s final three tracks. My favorite is the emotionally raw “Frances.”

The EP is getting brilliant reviews on iTunes, too, where it cracked the Top 25 on the alternative albums chart and was still sitting that high 24 hours after its release.

Among those reviews:

* Em-o-win: “It’s so good I’m crying.”

* Hannah102547: “Honestly amazing. Great work.”

* sarahhines426: “This EP is amazing. Juliet brought her A-game on all of these songs.”

As for that title, “From the Grave” — here’s how Juliet explained it to Alternative Press.

“The concept of this EP is essentially personal growth and strength. Like everyone, I have been through tough times and have always been resilient and rose back up. In many ways, it’s a snap shot of finding myself and never giving in.”

Above, you can check out a fan-created video for “Say Hello” that Juliet loved so much she featured it on her YouTube channel. Below are two other tracks from the album. You can check out all the tracks by following the Alternative Press link above.

You can follow Juliet on Facebook, and “From the Grave” merchandise bundles are available through her website. On Twitter, she’s @julietsimmsALL, with the ALL referring to her former band, Automatic Loveletter.
