Justin recounts the experience in a promotional clip for “Where Are They Now?” a show aired on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN channel.

Justin will be the subject of this Sunday’s episode, set to air at 10 p.m. EST.

Now 34, Justin released a debut album in June 2003 after finishing second to Kelly Clarkson on Idol, but it failed to catch on.

Justin never reached Kelly Clarkson-type success musically, of course, but he has rebounded.

Right now, he’s rehearsing for a supporting role in a new Broadway adaption of Romeo and Juliet, starring Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad,

Justin plays Paris, Romeo’s rival for the hand of Juliet.
