Nicki Minaj won two awards and Carrie Underwood nabbed one at the 40th annual American Music Awards Sunday night.

Nicki won for favorite hip-hop album with “Pink Friday, Roman Reloaded” and was also named favorite rap hip-hop artist.

Carrie won for favorite country album with “Blown Away,” but lost favorite female country artist honors to Taylor Swift.

Kelly Clarkson had also been nominated in two categories — best pop/rock album and favorite pop/rock female artist.

The former award went to Justin Bieber for “Believe.” The latter went to Katy Perry.

Bieber also was named artist of the year, while Adam Levine-led Maroon 5 was named favorite pop/rock band, group or duo.

Plenty of singing show stars also took the stage, with the highlight perhaps being Kelly Clarkson.

With her greatest hits album due to drop this week, Kelly took the stage early in the show, singing a medley of her biggest hits, including “Miss Independent,” “Since You’ve Been Gone” and “Stronger.” She wrapped up the performance with a snippet of her new single “Catch My Breath.”

Nicki took the stage twice, to perform “Freedom” and then to sing with Justin Bieber.

Carrie Underwood also performed, singing her newest single, “Two Black Cadillacs.”

Here are photos from tonight’s awards show.
