Country singer Kristen Merlin, a Season 6 standout on The Voice, has released an impressive new EP.

The five-track “Boomerang” hit iTunes Tuesday, though two of the songs had been available earlier.

This marks the first post-Voice music from Kristen, who was 29 when she auditioned for The Voice and landed a spot on Team Shakira with a cover of Sugarland’s “Something More.”

She made it to the Top 5 and scored a Top 10 on iTunes with her cover of “Foolish Games,” which made it to number six on the overall singles chart and number two on the country chart.

She also earned a spot on The Voice summer tour that followed Season 6.

As for the EP, Kristen wrote all the tracks except that catchy lead single “Boomerang,” a collaboration between producer Corey Britz and Kara Britz.

In fact, two of the songs — “Confusion” and “A Little While” — are tunes Kristen was performing live pre-Voice back in her home state of Massachusetts with the Kristen Merlin Band. “Confusion” is especially good. Below, you can check out another of the tunes she wrote, “Pocket Love Song.”

Kristen has a CD release event set for Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Charlie Horse in West Bridgewater, Ma. Tickets are $12. Head here for more information.
