Adanna Duru, Season 3, The Voice

Meet Adanna Duru of Team Adam on The Voice

Based on what I just heard on YouTube, The Voice cheated us by showing us so little of 15-year-old Adanna Duru.

All we saw on The Voice was Adanna singing a snippet of “Edge of Glory” and landing on Team Adam.

Adam’s reaction upon hearing her: “You’re 15 and already at that point. I’m even more excited.”

Adanna is from Southern California. According to her website, her parents were born in Nigeria and moved to the U.S. for college.

She’s a junior in high school where she’s class president, plays volleyball and founded a club to raise awareness of sex trafficking in Third World counties.

And she told Christina Milian that, like the judges, many people are surprised to find that she’s just 15.

Part of it might have to do with her height — she’s 5-foot-9.

“My mom even tried to change my hairstyle to make me look younger,” she said. “It never works.”

Of course, none of that will matter as much on The Voice as her musical talent. On Facebook, Adanna tells us she’s been singing since she can remember, plays guitar and piano and started getting into songwriting seriously at age 12.

“I perform frequently around LA County and will soon start branching off to perform at more destinations,” she writes. “There’s a lot more I believe I’m capable of, and I’m not stopping until I do it all.”

Since we heard so little of Adanna, here are two of her YouTube videos, including a sensational cover of “Brokenhearted.” You can hear more here.
