Blind audition: Brendan Fletcher, 26, of New York, N.Y., auditioned with “Jolene,” the Ray LaMontagne ballad not the Dolly Parton tune. He showed off a nice gravelly tone that earned chair turns from Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys. Alicia pitched the New York connection. Adam said he thinks Brendan has a unique knack for connecting with an audience. Brendan joined Team Adam.

His background: He’s a bartender. “It’s fun; you get to meet new people every day.” He says it’s also a job that allows him to find places to perform around the city. “I’ve probably been in about 12 bands over the course of my life. Everything from classic rock to punk rock, soul, R&B, even country music. I’ve only recently began to be a solo artist.” He’s hoping The Voice will allow him to make a career of being a singer-songwriter. “I don’t want to be a bartender the rest of my life,” he says.

What the show didn’t show:
* Brendan and his brother Steve played in many of those bands together in the New Jersey area.
* The includes the first band Brendan was ever in — Structured Chaos — when he was just 12 years old.
* In the winter of 2015 in Charlestown, S.C., they joined forces to form Another Brother Band.
* They describe Another Brother Band as an indie alt-country/folk rock/Americana band on the group’s website.
* Last October, they released an EP to iTunes called “Another Five Tunes.” It includes a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Hungry Heart.”
* After Brendan’s audition aired, the band released two songs to Bandcamp.com — a reworked version of “Take Me Down” from that EP and a new song call “Drinkin’ and Dreamin’.” You can check out the former below.
* The Another Brother Band is working on an upcoming LP, according to the band’s website.
* In a conference call with the media, Brendan pointed to two primary reasons for deciding to join Team Adam. First, Adam complimented him for delivering music so “it affects people in a positive way.” Second, Adam was first — as in the first of the three to turn around. “I’m a firm believer in, you know, the person that believes in you first is the one you should go with, Brendan said.
