Nicolle Galyon, Season Two Contestants, The Voice

Meet Nicolle Galyon of The Voice (Team Adam)

If you’re a fan of Season 10 American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina, you’ve probably heard a couple of Nicolle Galyon songs.

That’s because she co-wrote two of the best songs on Lauren’s “Wildflower” album — “Growing Her Wings” and “Dirt Road Prayer” (you’ll find Nicolle’s version embedded below).

Now the 27-year-old songwriter from Sterling, Kansas, is trying to make it as a singer herself, earning a spot on Team Adam on The Voice.

And not just any old singer. Trained in classical piano, she wants to become the first “piano girl in country music.”

“I’m still very much growing into that,” Nicolle told The Voice about the singing part of the equation. “I didn’t sing in front of a soul until I was 20 and, to be honest, it’s still kind of nerve-wracking to think of myself as a singer.”

But a singer she is, and you can hear her sing and play piano on several songs on her website.

She calls her music “Kansas country” on Facebook and calls the Dixie Chicks a major influence.

“They’re beautiful women who play their instruments and make country sophisticated and cool and charming,” Nicolle says.

Adam was the only judge to turn around during her performance of “You Save Me,” but Nicolle said she’s quite fine with that, because he would have been her choice had all four spun their chairs.

She said she sees him as a triple threat as a performer, musician and singer and hopes he can help her become the same.
