First, the surprise: Jordin Sparks “Battlefield” album might have dropped like a rock on the Billboard 200, but the “S.O.S. (Let the Music Play) ” single landed in the number one spot on the dance/club play chart this week.

The song, which borrows heavily from the 1983 Shannon hit, has been on the dance/club play chart for 13 weeks and made the jump from number two to number one this week.

The other number one belongs to Kelly Clarkson, whose “Already Gone” has landed atop the adult pop song chart. Unlike “S.O.S,” that song is charting elsewhere as well.

Now, for a complete rundown of Idols on the Billboard charts:

Kris Allen: His self-titled debut album checks in at number 11 on the Billboard 200. As noted in a blog yesterday, that’s the lowest debut by an Idol winner yet. But Kris’ single, “Live Like We’re Dying” jumped from 70 to 41 this week on the Hot 100 singles chart.

David Archuleta: His “Christmas From the Heart” album was
released Oct. 13, well before the holiday season. Now that people are thinking Christmas, young David’s album is gaining steam, jumping from number eight to four on the holiday albums chart and all the way from 75 to 44 on the Billboard 200 this week.

Kelly Clarkson: The album, “All You Ever Wanted,” plummeted all the way from 123 to 173 this week. But “Already Gone” continues to perform well, and not only on the adult pop songs chart. It’s also 16 on the Hot 100, up from 20; 15 on the adult contemporary chart; and holds steady at number eight on the pop songs chart.

Their album, “Leave This Town,” dropped from 46 to 68 on the Billboard 200. “No Surprise” is number nine on the adult contemporary singles chart.

Adam Lambert: “For Your Entertainment” debuted on the Hot 100 at number 91 last week. This week, it drops right out of the Hot 100. Next week, we find out where Adam’s album debuts. Judging from his rank on the iTunes charts this week, probably somewhere in the top 10, but probably no higher than number six.
Mandisa: The ninth-place finisher from season five of Idol has her second hit off her new Christian album. “He Is with You” holds steady at number 22 on the Christian singles chart this week.

Kellie Pickler: The combination of holiday albums and deluge of high-profile releases has bumped Kellie’s album out of the Billboard 200 for the first time in months. But her album is still 33 on the country charts. And the single “Don’t Know How Much I Loved You” inched up from 28 to 27 on the country singles chart.

Carrie Underwood: “Play On” holds steady at number one on the country album chart this week. It drops from number three to number nine on the Billboard 200. “Cowboy Casanova,” lead single from the album, is 23 on the Hot 100, down from 21, and number two on the country singles chart, up from number three.
