The Voice changed formats again for the Season 9 finale, asking the Top 4 to sing Christmas songs instead of new singles.

Personally, I would have preferred to hear new music from the Top 4 — just a hint of what kind of music they might release after the show.

But it’s difficult to argue with the sales success of the Christmas covers. All four landed in the Top 25 on iTunes the next day.

Jordan Smith’s “Mary Did You Know” hit number one. And on Friday it was still number one on the iTunes holiday songs chart and clinging to a spot in the Top 10 on the site’s overall singles chart.

But the Top 4 from Season 9 aren’t the only Voice contestants to release Christmas music this holiday season. At last four former contestants have new holiday music out. That includes the following.

* Craig Wayne Boyd, the Season 7 winner, released a cover of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

* Chris Jamison, who finished third that same season, released a pop cover of “This Christmas.”

* Dez Duron, a Top 8 finisher in Season 3, has also covered “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” in a more pop and less country fashion than Craig Wayne Boyd, of course.

* Kat Perkins, a Top 5 finisher in Season 6, released a five-track “Kat Perkins Christmas” EP, complete with an original called “A Different Kind of Christmas Song.”

With 40-plus contestants per season over eight previous seasons, I’m sure I’ve missed someone who’s released holiday music this year. If so, please pass the info along by commenting below.

And if that’s not enough Christmas music for you, here are the other offerings from the show’s past finalists.

* Chris Mann: Released a 10-track Christmas album “Home for Christmas” in 2013. It also includes covers of “Hallelujah” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Chris finished fourth in Season 2.

* Javier Colon: Released a five-track EP called “A Very Acoustic Christmas” back in 2011, the same year he won Season 1 of The Voice.

* The Swon Brothers: Zach and Colton, third-place finishers in Season 4, released a fun version of “Run, Run Rudolph” last November.

* Tony Lucca: The third-place finisher from Season 2 released a Christmas single, “Home for the Holidays,” last December.
