Just four years after winning American Idol, Carrie Underwood has become an old hand at accepting honors at country music award shows.

In November, she’ll get her second chance to host one.

The Country Music Association announced Tuesday that Carrie and Brad Paisley will return as hosts of its 2009 awards show, set for Nov. 11 at the Sommet Center in Nashville. The show airs 8 to 11 p.m. that night on ABC.

Carrie told The Associated Press she welcomes the hosting gig because it makes performing at the show or being nominated for an award easier.

“If your award — the one you really want to win — is at the end of the show, you’re going to be sitting there for two and a half hours thinking about that award,” she said. “We (the show hosts) had so much other stuff to do.”

Of course, Carrie could afford to allow someone else to win a few of these things.

She has five CMA awards to her credit, including three straight as top female vocalist. She’s been the Academy of County Music’s top female vocalist for three years running and is the reigning Entertainer of the Year. And she’s won three straight Grammys for best female country vocal performance.

The 26-year-old’s third post-Idol album is due out in November. No word yet on whether she’ll be up for a CMA award this year.

Speaking of the Country Music Association, it’s annual music festival will be televised Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Performers will include another former Idol contestant, Kellie Pickler. You can hear Kellie talk about the show in a preview video posted here.
