Gabriel Wolfchild from Season 8 of The Voice is working on a new EP.

And he’s turned to Kickstarter to help finance the project.

Since appearing on the show, landing a spot on Team Christina Aguilera and advancing to the battle round, some things have changed for the indie-folk singer.

Most notably: The Northern Light.

Gabriel explains in his Kickstarter pitch, explaining that he’s not performing solo anymore.

“After years of being that lone traveling singer-songwriter singing to you from the back of your favorite dive bar, I have at long last found a family that I call band, which includes my actual brother Eli on drums,” Gabriel writes.

“When I moved back to Seattle, I just kept running into amazing musicians who wanted to collaborate. My days of singing sad songs alone are over.”

As for songs, apparently nine are planned for the new EP, “Mornings Like These.” That includes the title track, seven other originals and a cover of Kurt Cobain’s “Heart Shaped Box.”

Eric Lilavois is producing the project and describes it this way: “I think there’s a lot of folk on this record. There’s a lot of Americana. There are a lot of psycodelic moments. It really is just an experience.”

Adds Gabriel: “The songs I feel really excited about. I’ve really taken a new direction, and they feel really like songs that need to be heard. This is really above and beyond anything I’ve ever done before.”

That Kickstarter campaign runs for 10 more days and lots of goodies are up for grabs, including clay flutes handmade by Gabriel’s brother, Elion TruthHeart. Heck, for the right price, Gabriel will even host a Voice viewing party in your home.

You can follow Gabriel, 26 when he auditioned for The Voice, through Facebook and his website. On Twitter, he’s @WOLFCHILDmusic.

Now, here’s a live performance of “Mornings Like These.”
