Let’s rank the members of Team Adam.

1. Judith Hill: If you weren’t impressed by Judith’s first two performances on The Voice, you had to be by last week’s “Always On My Mind.” It was probably the best vocal we’ve heard on the show so far in Season 4. Pitch perfect and filled with flourishes that certainly showed why she was tabbed to sing with Michael Jackson and contribute to a Spike Lee soundtrack.

2. Sarah Simmons: And she might have turned in the second best vocal of the knockout round. That was quite the combination of tenderness, range and grit she demonstrated on “Wild Horses.” And it’s all the more impressive because she didn’t enter the competition with a resume nearly as impressive as Judith or some of the other highly-touted contestants.

3. Amber Carrington: I suspected her battle round win over Sasha Allen was The Voice’s way of balancing out the power between teams. Nope. This young lady came right back and vanquished another four-chair turn-around recipient (Midas Whale) in the knockout round. In those two weeks, she performed Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl” and Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You.” That’s versatility, folks.

4. Caroline Glaser: The fact that she lands here is more indicative of the strength of Adam’s team than any shortcomings on Caroline’s part. In fact, her voice is one of my favorites in the competition. But she’s more of a singer-songwriter than a vocal powerhouse, and it’s vocal pyrotechnics that often attract the votes on a show like this.
