The folks at the Pullo Center at Penn State York have just confirmed an opening act for the Tuesday, March 24, David Cook concert — Ryan Star.

ryan-starr.jpgNow, don’t get confused. This isn’t female rocker Ryan Starr (right) who became Idol’s first hottie back in season one, was working on a “rockish” swimsuit line called Chained, went the reality TV route and has yet to release a debut album.?

This is Ryan Star (above), a guy from New York, who plans to release his first album as an Atlantic Records artist later this year.

He, too, has a reality TV background, having competed on the CBS show “Rock Star: Supernova” in 2006. Here’s how it worked: 15 contestants sparred for the right to front the rock band Supernova, featuring former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee.

One of Ryan’s songs, “Last Train Home,” was featured on the soundtrack for “P.S. I Love You.” According to Ryan’s MySpace page, another of his songs, “Brand New Day” is the main theme song to the new FOX show “Lie to Me.” You can check it out tonight, because “Lie to Me” is on at 9 p.m., right after American Idol.

Or you can check out both of those songs and a couple others on his MySpace page.

Tickets for the David Cook concert are $29.50 and go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. They will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pullo Center box office. They will also be available at by calling 717-505-8900 or by going to the Pullo Center Web site, http://www.pullocenter.psu.edu/.

Now, what is Ryan Starr?up to these days?

Glad you asked.

She’s apparently lead singer for a five-gal rock group called The Darling Stilettos. Here’s what Ryan writes in the latest blog on her MySpace page.

“We live and breathe rock n roll and we are here to bring it back to all the females out there who are looking for some girls who can rock. I am currently in the studio with Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver) and we are working on our first set of songs for the new group.”

So there you have it. An update on both Ryan Star(r)s.
