Sawyer Fredericks, Season 8 winner from The Voice, has released two songs digitally for the first time.

Last week, he dropped “Silent World.” This week, he followed it up with “Any of My Trouble.”

He’s also preparing to drop his upcoming “Hide Your Ghost” album, which Sawyer says he hopes to release in early spring.

“I have done this all independently,” Sawyer notes in a Pledge Music video. “One of the reasons I’ve very proud of this album is because it’s all written and produced by me.

“I feel this is the first album that I’ve released that really showcases my original work and who I am as an artist.”

“Hide Your Ghosts” will actually be the third full-length album from Sawyer, who’s still just 18.

He released a debut album called “Out My Window” way back in 2013, then followed it up with “A Good Storm” under the Republic Records banner after winning The Voice.

That album debuted at number 48 on the Billboard 200 and hit number two on the site’s folk albums chart.

But Sawyer balked over the loss of creative control of his music and he and Republic parted ways.

“Going independent can be a very stressful thing,” he says in the video, “but I feel very good about the music.”

As for the songs released in the past week, “Any of My Trouble” is an older song. There are videos on YouTube of Sawyer performing it as far back as 2015, the same year he appeared on The Voice. He’s been playing “Silent World” live for about two years.

The “Hide Your Ghost” album can be pre=ordered from Sawyer’s Pledge Music page. He’s offering up all sorts of rewards for supporters and says anyone who pre-orders the album will get four songs as an instant digital download.

The new album is also available on vinyl and CD through the site.

Here’s live versions of the two newly-released songs.

Minor correction: I don’t think these two songs are on the upcoming Hide Your Ghost album. They were recorded at the same time as A Good Storm (while with Republic Records) and included on an exclusive deluxe version of that album. This is just the first time the songs are being released digitally.
