Season 1 Voice standout Lily Elise talks about her new music

Lily EliseLily Elise, one of the Season 1 standouts on The Voice, released a new single earlier this month.

And there’s more new music coming from the young woman who made the Top 16 on the show back in the spring of 2011 as a member of Team Christina.

The new single is an impressive, moody pop/R&B song called “Generator.” It’s the first song released from an upcoming five-track EP called “Taken.”

The video for the song (embedded below) is all darkness and shadows, and Lily credits director Gil Marsden for bringing to life what she saw in her head when she envisioned it.

“The EP tells a story of a past relationship from beginning to end,” she explains. “‘Generator’ falls in the middle of that story, which was a very dark place for me emotionally.

“I wanted the video to be dark and mysterious, and convey that this man is not someone I should be with, while also conveying this ‘pull’ and a sense of urgency that keeps bringing me back to him.”

She wrote the song with Daniel Weber and Brice Fox; it was produced by Weber and Dan Nigro.

“Because my vocals are used as a main part of the track, it gave the song this really unique sound which is why I thought it would be the perfect introductory song for the EP,” Lily says.

The other four songs will be released over the next few months with the entire EP available in early 2015, she adds.

If you can’t wait for more Lily Elise music … well, you don’t have to.

Her vocals are prominent on a song called “Let it Go” by DJ Felix Cartel that was released in April, on a dance tune called “Hurricane” from a Dillon Francis album released in August, and on a catchy brand new single called “Cover Up” by Frenship, which just hit iTunes.

Since The Voice, she’s also penned a song that was number one for 10 weeks in Hungary. And that’s Lily singing “Feeling Good” in the American Eagle “I’m Imperfect” ad campaign.
