Simon Cowell shows true colors during ‘uncomfortable moment’

So did you enjoy that uncomfortable moment on The X Factor last night?

You know, the one where Simon Cowell forced Demi Lovato to announce which of her acts she would send home?

Simon certainly made sure we saw it, a point he made clear after the show, according to Zap2It.

“Tonight, I just couldn’t help but do what I did because I knew it (Demi making a decision) was going to be the most uncomfortable thing,” he said. “And everyone at home was thinking the same thing.”

Actually, Simon, that’s not what I was thinking.

I was thinking something along the lines of: “You supreme jerk. You can’t even follow the rules on your own show.”

And in my mind, the uncomfortable moment came a few moments earlier. When relatively new host Mario Lopez repeatedly asked Simon who he wanted to send home.

It was, after all, Simon’s turn to provide an answer. Britney Spears and L.A. Reid already had.

Simon simply refused, repeatedly, which forced Mario to finally relent with “you’re the boss.”

Perhaps this is why “the boss” should be behind the camera and not in front of it.

Demi voted to save Jennel Garcia, tossing the decision back into Simon’s lap anyway.

He voted to send Jennel home and save Paige Thomas.

Later, he said he knew that would be his vote, and that if he had announced it first, Demi would have been able to avoid making a choice.

Zap@It reports that Demi conducted her briefest post-show interview yet and didn’t seem amused by the ploy.

For the record, she voted to save Jennel not because it would force Simon to cast the final vote, but because she thought she “was more talented.”

“Paige has more star quality, which is going to help her,” Demi added.
