Just call Stephan Marcellus the guy who broke up hers-tory.

Stephan lost his Team Jennifer Hudson battle round match against Shi’Ann Jones during The Voice episode that aired Monday night.

But the coaches were so impressed with their performance of “I Wish It Would Rain” by the Temptations that Miley Cyrus swooped in and stole Stephan when he was on the brink of elimination.

Yep, the same Miley Cyrus who made Voice history — she preferred to call it hers-tory — by compiling the first all-female team in the show’s history during the blind auditions.

And so Stephan became the first male on the now eight-member Team Miley.

Going into the battle, Stephan said he just wanted to prove himself.

He’d stumbled during the opening of his blind audition and just barely made the show; Jennifer was the only coach to turn a chair for that performance.

This time around, he especially wanted to evoke the emotion in the song, the 26-year-old from Englewood, N.J. said during a conference call with the media.

He thinks that might be what caught Miley’s attention.

“Miley really cares about emotion,” Stephan noted. “All the songs she’s chosen have been very emotion-based. Working with her, I think, will greatly enhance that skill.”

As for being the only guy on Team Miley …

“Everybody on Team Miley has an impeccable voice,” he said. “And she was pretty adamant about hers-tory for a really long time.

“For her to choose me after all that is a blessing. I’m definitely going to work my butt off to prove myself to her.”
