The Voice and American Idol will go head to head for a Teen Choice award in August.

But last year’s winner can’t possibly repeat.

That’s because The X Factor took the category last year, perhaps a sign that teens were watching and no one else was, since Simon Cowell’s show was cancelled last year after its third season.

The Voice and American Idol were also nominated in 2013. This year’s other nominees for Choice Reality Competition show include Masterchef Junior, Survivor and the Amazing Race.

The award show will air Sunday, Aug. 10, at 8 p.m. on FOX. And starting Tuesday, fans ages 13 to 19 can vote once each day per category for their favorites on the Teen Choice website.

And, boy, are there lots of categories. And today’s announcement marked just phase one of the nominees.

Only one former singing show star has been nominated so far. Carrie Underwood is up for honors as Choice Female Country Artist along with Miranda Lambert, Jana Kramer, Kacey Musgrave and Taylor Swift. Taylor won last year.

Idol judge Keith Urban and Voice coach Blake Shelton are up for Choice Male Country Artist along with Luke Bryan, Jake Owen and Hunter Hayes, who won in 2013.

Fifth Harmony, formerly of X Factor fame, is one of the nominees for Choice Music Group along with 5 Seconds of Summer, One Direction, R5 and Rixton.
