For the second straight year, The Voice has won the People’s Choice award for favorite TV competition show.

The People’s Choice winners were announced Wednesday night and also included Carrie Underwood as favorite female country artist, Adam Levine’s Maroon 5 for best band and Pharrell Williams as favorite R&B artist.

Singing shows have won the favorite TV competition show category for the last six years.

American Idol won every year from 2010-2012. The X Factor inexplicably took top honors in 2013.

That would have come close on the heels of Season 2, when Tate Stevens took the title over Carly Rose Sonenclar and Fifth Harmony.

The Voice won for the first time last year; then repeated Wednesday night.

Carson Daly responded with this tweet: “Thank you #PeoplesChoiceAwards for the awesome award! On behalf of the coaches, staff and crew of #TheVoice we’re very appreciative!”

And very deserving, based on what happened over the past year. Yeah, there was a major snafu with the iTunes voting at the end of Season 6. But The Voice provided us with two very entertaining seasons of music in 2014.

The other nominees in the category were America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, Hell’s Kitchen and Master Chef.

Carrie was the only former contestant from a singing show to win. Her fellow nominees for favorite female country singer were Dolly Parton, Faith Hill, Lucy Hale and Miranda Lambert.

Taylor Swift wasn’t in the country category, but won as favorite female artist.
