The Voice tops X Factor in Wednesday ratings war

0

Well, this is probably going to upset Simon Cowell more than the initial news that The Voice planned to air a Wednesday episode to go head-to-head with his Season 2 premiere of The X Factor.

The Voice beat The X Factor in round one of the singing show ratings war, drawing 10.7 million viewers for a one-hour episode Wednesday compared to 8.5 million for The X Factor, ZapIt is reporting.

Ouch. Simon brought in young Demi Lovato and pop princess Britney Spears to spice up his judging panel, and ratings still plummeted from a year ago, when the season debut of The X Factor drew 12.5 million viewers.

Of course, his show wasn’t going head-to-head with The Voice then.

The Voice also won the network ratings war on Monday and Tuesday. Monday’s two-hour episode drew 11 million viewers for the first hour, 13 million for the second. Tuesday’s one-hour episode drew 11.3 million.

For what it’s worth, viewership for the season premiere of The Voice was also down from its first two seasons.

Could viewers possibly be tiring of singing shows?
