The wild card round, minus Jamar and Bikini Girl

Jamar RogersAt one point, Bikini Girl Katrinia Darrell had delusions of returning for this year’s wild card round on American Idol.

Apparently, she can forget it.

Since the march-to-the-chair episode, message board posters have been lobbying for the return of Jamar Rogers during the wild card round.

Apparently, they can forget it.

(Jamar, by the way, is moving on. He’s talking about recording music with another Idol castoff, Frankie Jordan. Check out Frankie’s MySpace page for videos of the two.)

Idol has been pretty quiet about this week’s wild card show, but its public relations firm answered a couple of basic questions in an e-mail Monday morning.

First and foremost, wild card contestants will be limited to the 36 who made the semifinals.

Secondly, if I’m reading the e-mail correctly, each of Idol’s four judges will get to choose three contestants to advance to the wild card round.

And Idol isn’t wasting time with this wild card business.

At first, I thought Ryan must have misspoken Thursday night when he referred to a wild card show being held this week. After all, 12 semifinalists have yet to perform for our votes.

Then someone left a message on my blog indicating otherwise, so I looked up the show schedule released last year to double check.

Sure enough, wild card night is listed as March 5, which is Thursday, which means we can look forward to three straight nights of Idol drama this week.

But no Bikini Girl.

Or Jamar.

Which, quite frankly, only seems fair.

The second chances should be limited to the final 36.
