Quarterfinals, The Voice

Tony Lucca king of iTunes among Voice contestants

0

Apparently, Tony Lucca’s rocked-out version of “Baby Hit Me One More Time” appealed to folks other than yours truly and the judges on The Voice.

Tony’s single is the most downloaded on iTunes among last night’s performances from The Voice.

As of 7 p.m., his take on the Britney Spears’ tune was number 22 on the chart, one of the best showings by a Voice artist this year.

Now that doesn’t guarantee survival once the results roll in.

Charlotte Sometimes’ brilliant version of “Misery Business” — still my favorite Voice performance to date — was among the most downloaded three weeks ago, and she wound up heading home the next night.

But my guess is that Tony will hang around as one of the final two members of Team Adam.

In fact, the other three performers I want to survive tonight — Jamar Rogers and Juliet Simms of Team Cee Lo and Katrina Parker of Team Adam — also did well on the iTunes charts today.

Here is where everyone fell:

* Juliet Simms verrsion of “Cryin’,” black wings and all, came in at number 38.

* Katrina Parker’s version of “Jar of Hearts” was number 58 on iTunes.

* Jamar Rogers version of “It’s My Life” checked in at number 60.

* Cheesa’s version of “I Who Have Nothing” was number 136.

* Pip’s version of “Somewhere Only We Know” was number 192, even though he was eliminated last night.

Note that Mathai, who’s still in the competition, and James Massone did not chart among iTunes top 200 singles.

Also of note, at number 166 on the chart is Juliet Simms again with “Roxanne,” the song she sang in the first round of the live shows on The Voice two weeks ago.
