Jeffery Austin from The Voice Season 9 released his debut single, “Only You,” on Friday.

Jeffery Austin turned a one-chair turn into a fourth-place finish during a magical run on Season 9 of The Voice.

This week he reminded us how he did it, delivering a brilliant vocal on an impressive debut single, “Only You,” which hit iTunes Friday.

His fans are understandably thrilled. Check out some of the comments from Facebook.

* Beth Marie Read: “Wow wow wow! Listening now. This is amazing! Keep going with writing please! Keep going, keep going!”

* David Meadows: “An amazing song Jeffery Austin! I’ve been listening to it all morning, and at times moved to tears.”

* Bill Mack: “I own it — and have been wearing it out … ok, I know it’s not vinyl … but if it was — it would be wore out!”

Jeffery told Voice Views “Only You” marked the first song for which he composed both the lyrics and the music.

“The song is about the end of my first serious relationship,” he said. “If you noticed a theme of the songs I sang on The Voice, this new single is very much in the same vein.

“I’ve written and co-written a lot of new music since the show, but this was the first song that I felt needed to be released. It’s everything I’ve wanted to say in my own words and it closes a chapter on that relationship.”

The single was produced by Voice colleague Tim Atlas, who has released music of his own since the show and also produced for Lyndsey Elm, Kota Wade and Summer Schappell, all names familiar to fans of the show.

As for Jeffery, there’s more new music coming. He said he has two other singles in the works, but isn’t ready to announce release dates.

“The goal is to continue writing and hopefully develop a project, whether that be an EP or full-length album,” he said.

Jeffery was 24 when he auditioned for The Voice and said that blind audition marked his first major performance since high school.

No problem. Before his run on The Voice ended, he placed four cover songs in the Top 10 on the iTunes overall singles chart.
