Quarterfinals, The Voice

Voters, judges make the right choices on The Voice

0

Well, everything worked out just fine on The Voice Tuesday night, didn’t it?

The contestants who should have advanced, did. The judges made the right decisions with their saves.

And all of a sudden, next week’s semifinals seem more enticing than they did a week ago.

Tuesday’s only disappointment was the fact that Cee Lo’s black-winged rocker, Juliet Simms, needed a save to stay in the competition.

But, hey, that just meant we got to hear her sing again. And she didn’t disappoint, with a gritty, take-no-prisoners version of “Torn.”

Folks, this gal should be among the favorites to win this competition.

Katrina Parker also got a deserved save after performing “Perfect.” It wasn’t “Jar or Hearts” special, but it was another solid performance.

And, honestly, Mathai and Cheesa, the contestants eliminated Tuesday, made their coaches’ decisions easier by deciding to sing Idol songs, and then turning in pale imitations of the originals.

I doubt those versions of “Cowboy Casanova” (Mathai) or “Already Gone” (Cheesa) would have been hits.

So, with the public voting through Tony Lucca on Team Adam and Jamar Rogers on Team Cee Lo, here’s how the semifinals are shaping up.

Team Blake:

Jermaine Paul (public’s pick)
Erin Willett (mentor’s save)

Team Christina

Chris Mann (public’s pick)
Lindsey Pavao (mentor’s save)

Team Adam

Tony Lucca (public’s pick)
Katrina Parker (mentor’s save)

Team Cee Lo

Jamar Rogers (public’s pick)
Juliet Simms (mentor’s save)
