Under the category of striking while the iron is hot …

On her Twitter profile, Voice winner Cassadee Pope writes this: New single anticipated to drop in the next few weeks.

Which is a wise move by everyone involved.

Why wait months to release a first single? Especially when you’ve got a ready-for-prime-time winner like Cassadee.

Especially when the folks over at Idol are boasting that they’re the only “star makers” in this singing show business.

Cassadee represents The Voice’s best chance yet to quiet that claim.

Oh, and don’t be surprised it that first single has a country bent.

Cassadee is an “in-house guidance counselor” at Alter the Press. The first question in this month’s post asks her what direction she plans to pursue in terms of genre.

Cassadee’s answer: “I’m going country. It’ll be more of a contemporary feel, but definitely country.”

Again, wise choice given the knack she demonstrated on country-flavored tunes on The Voice.

Cassadee also answered fans’ questions last night on Alter the Press. Among the highlights …

Singing with Avril?

“It was surreal. Especially because she was so nice to me. It was a dream come true for sure.”

What song was most difficult to sing on The Voice.

“Probably ‘Cry.’ Could’ve been because I was exhausted by then. But it was a doozy.”

What’s the best advice you can give someone struggling in their life?

“Know it gets better. With every horrible thing that has happened to me, a better thing comes.”

Favorite song performed on The Voice?

“Stupid Boy”

Do you want to be in movies?

“Someday. But no sex scenes. That’d be weird.”

“I miss touring with my friends. I might whip out a HM song here or there. We’ll see.”

Have you ever felt like giving up?

“A little. When I went solo and nothing was catching on.”

How did Blake Shelton push you to be your best?

“He believed in me from day one. That goes a long way.”

Current favorite song?

“Blake’s new single.”

What’s your ringtone?

“More Than a Feeling” by Boston.

If you were a toilet, who’d you want to sit on you?

“Nobody! I’d break on purpose!”
