Lashon of American Idol Season 23
Idol aired Lashon’s audition on its second full episode of Season 23.
She dazzled the judges with an original song called “Woman.”
Carrie Underwood was so impressed, she predicted a Top 12 finish for the 25-year-old from Miami.

* If fans of the show liked what they heard during her audition, they can stream or download “Woman” anytime they like. Lashon released the song in November.
* She says it was inspired by her mother Tranika, who raised three of her own children, adopted nine of Lashon’s cousins and often had other relatives living in her home as well.
* “It was crazy,” Lashon recalled of living in a household of 15-20 people while growing up. “It takes you to get away from it a little bit to realize like, ‘Dang, ma, how are you still alive right now?'”
* “Woman” is actually the second single from the young artist. She released a song called “Moolah” last May.
* She calls that “a song i wrote after a long day at work !!! I was fed up and felt i deserved better !! So throughout this song if you pay close attention i’m telling you how to move if you want to get more ‘MOOLAH’.” Check out the music video below.
* While Lashon was raised in Miami, she shifted her focus from sports to music and moved to New York where she now lives.
* According to the Lashon Thomas Facebook page, she studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
* And in a recent radio interview, she told Ryan Seacrest she started rapping before she began singing.
* She told him she decided to try out for the show because “Idol felt so far out of my reach. I’m the kind of person who likes to take on a challenge.
* “I tried last year and didn’t get on,” she continued. “I’m like, ‘Nah, I’ve got to do that again.”
* On her website, Lashon describes her original music as ” blending the soulful rhythms of my Miami roots with the edgy, contemporary sound I’ve developed in New York. Each song tells a story, and I invite you to be part of this musical journey.”
