Anilee List from American Idol Season 19

Anilee List from American Idol Season 19

Anilee List is among the singers we’ll meet when American Idol kicks off Season 19 Sunday night.

Here’s more about Anilee.

* From Los Angeles, she’s a student at the Berklee College of Music, a member of the Class of 2022.

* A singer-songwriter, she released her debut single, “Take Time,” in May and followed up with a song called “You” in August.

* Of “Take Time,” Anilee wrote: “This song reminds me that often times I can look inward for the answers. They have been here all along, patiently waiting for me to find them, only to reveal my truth.” Check it out below.

* According to her Berklee bio, she was named one of 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts in 2018 and a 2017 National YoungArts Foundation finalist in popular voice in 2017.

* At Berklee, she’s a member of the acclaimed a cappella group Pitch Slapped. But her involvement in a cappella pre-dates her college days.

* She’s also participated in the A Cappella Academy camp at Mount St. Mary’s College in Maryland and said that led to her participation in an a cappella group called Legacy that won the International Championship of High School A Capella in 2018.

* She’s performed at the Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall.

* Anilee has Tourette syndrome, was diagnosed when she was 10 and told LA Voyager that watching James Durbin do so well on Season 10 of American Idol (he placed fourth) served as an inspiration to her. She said she eventually met Durbin, who also has Tourette Syndrome, at a fundraiser. “He gave me hope that having TS didn’t mean I had to forfeit my dreams of singing,” she told the site.

* Back in 2018, Anilee posted a photo of herself performing at a Tourette syndrome fundraiser and added this: “Having Tourette syndrome has made me a part of such an amazing community and I have met so many incredible mentors and friends through something some people would see as a setback or an obstacle. Yes, it’s hard sometimes, but I could not be more grateful.”
