A single from Jermaine Paul just in time for Father’s Day

0

If you hadn’t heard, Jermaine Paul, the Season 2 winner of The Voice, has released a new single.

The song is called “Butterfly Kisses,” and it’s Father’s Day appropriate since it’s about a dad and his teenage daughter.

It’s not a new song. In fact, it was first released by Bob Carlisle back in 1997, when it reached number one on the Billboard adult contemporary chart.

A year later, it won a Dove Award for song of the year and a Grammy for country song of the year. Carlise co-wrote it with Randy Thomas.

Fans on Jermaine’s Facebook page love his version.

“Great timing for Father’s Day and perfect song for you! It is awesome!!! Tears…. ;),” writes Susan Toalson-Hayden.

But the iTunes reception has been lukewarm. As of 10 p.m. Wednesday evening, a day after its release, the song was not among the top 200 singles.

It’s a little sappy for my taste. Feel free to wake me up when we have a first single from Juliet Simms.
