Two more artist — Bryson Battle and Britton Moore — landed four-chair turns as the auditions continued on Season 27 of The Voice Monday ngiht.
Adam Levine lured Britton to his team, meaning he’s landed three of the four four-chair artists so far this season. Last week, he convinced Grace Miller-Moody and Ethan Eckenroad to join Team Adam after all four coaches turned for them.
Bryson, meanwhile, opted to join Team John Legend.
But Bryson and Britton were just two of nine artists who impressed the coaches enough to earn spots on the show as they were joined by Jaelen Johnston, Tatum Scott, Braxton Garza, Ari Camille, Ricardo Moreno, Hayden Grove and Jordan Allen.
Here’s a recap of Monday’s show with Voice Views picks for the night’s top performances.
BEST OF THE NIGHT
Bryson Battle, 21, Harrisburg, N.C., “A Song for You” — His impressive opening enticed quick chair turns from John Legend and Michael Buble. By the time he reached the middle the performance, Kelsea Ballerini had turned as well. A high note prompted Adam Levine to make it a four-chair turn. Kelsea loved the emotion in his performance. Michael said Bryson might have the best voice he’s heard. Adam called him “incredible.” John said he made the song sound “fresh and new and exciting.” Bryson opted to join Team Legend.
RUNNERS-UP
Jaelen Johnston, 21, Kansas performed “Where the Wild Things Are” by Luke Combs: Jaelen’s deep and powerful vocals earned chair turns from Adam Levine, Michael Buble and Kelsea Ballerini in rapid order. Jaelen completed an impressiv performance, but couldn’t entice John to turn. Kelsea called his voice “unreal” and was also impressed with his range. Adam called the tone of Jaelen’s voice “unmistakably bold and strong.” Michael said he loves Jaelen’s “rich, deep baritone.” Jaelen decided to join Team Kelsea.
Tatum Scott, 22, Nashville, Tenn., performed “Vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo: The Voice posted a preview of Tatum on YouTube Friday as a promo for Monday’s show. Tatum’s lovely tone and rasp prompts chair turns from John Legend and Kelsea Ballerini just a couple of lines into the song. Tatum finishes strong, showing off lots of on-stage confidence and a powerful voice as well. Tatum’s clearly thrilled that Kelsea turned, proclaiming “Hey, Kelsea girl. I love you.” Not taking any chances on losing Tatum, Kelsea approaches the stage, complimenting the singer on her lower register, calling it “so beautiful.” Still, John noted that he turned first and, unlike Kelsea, has experience coaching on the show. Tatum, not surprisingly, opted to join Team Kelsea.
ALSO MADE THE SHOW
Britton Moore, 21, San Antonio, Texas, “Yellow” by Coldplay: Britton’s nice range earned an immediate chair turn from Adam Levine. As soon as he hit the chorus, John Legend and Kelsea Ballerini turned as well. As the song drew to a close, Michael Buble turned as well, giving Bitton a four-chair turn. Adam said he felt a connection to Britton almost immediately. John liked Britton’s unique approach to the song. Michael said he likes character voice. Kelsea said he thinks Britton could be a versatile artist. Britton opted to join Team Adam.
Jordan Allen, 30, London, Kentucky, performed “Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Seger: It took about one line to show that Jordan’s a fun performer. When he hit the chorus, Michael Buble turned. John Legend eventually joined him as Jordan continued to rock out on stage, ending with an impressive glory note. Michael said he can tell Jordan is a versatile performer. John said Jordan’s voice sounds “amazing” and added that he loves Jordan’s range. Jordan decided to join Team Legend.
Hayden Grove, 31, Cleveland, Ohio, performed “Mack the Knife” by Bobby Darin: Hayden turned in a solid performance of one of his favorite songs to perform, but couldn’t quite entice a chair turn from Michael Buble. He did get a turn from Adam Levine late in the performance, meaning he automatically became Team Adam. That said, Michael immediately recognized Hayden when the performance ended. Adam says Hayden has a “tremendously great voice.”
Ricardo Moreno, 25, Tracy, Calif., performed “Put You Head on My Shoulder” by Paul Anka: Ricardo turned in a solid performance and even did a bit of the song in Spanish. But no one had turned when the song ended. Adam Levine called it a great performance and blamed the lack of a chair turn on Michael Buble, saying everyone expected him to turn. Michael said he heard so much that he liked, then pressed him coach replay button.
Ari Camille, 21, Chicago, Ill., performed “I Wanna Be Down” by Brandy. Her smooth R&B vocals prompted a chair turn from John Legend. Ari continued an impressive performance, showing off lots of dynamics and that earned her a chair turn from Michael Buble as well. John complimented Ari on a cool approach to the song and said he loved the performance. Michael loved the soulfulness Ari showed. Ari decided to join Team Legend.
Braxton Garza, 28, Adrian, Michigan, performed “Pretty Little Poison” by Warren Zeiders: He showed off a nice deep voice with a touch of rasp and got early chair turns from Michael Buble and Kelsea Ballerini. Only Kelsea was blocked by Michael, who had said he might have to resort to that tactic to land a country-leaning artist. Kelsea was bummed by the block saying Braxton is “so good.” She called his voice “so special.” Michael said he was determined to get Braxton because of the great character in his voice and was thrilled the block worked.
