When Craig Wayne Boyd, former winner of The Voice, performs in York next week, he’ll invite a special guest to join him on stage.

That would be none other than York’s DaNica Shirey, a fellow finalist from the show’s seventh season.

Speaking from a zoo in Nashville Wednesday, where he was spending some quality time with son Jaxon, Craig declined to divulge details of DaNica’s role in the show, such as what songs they’ll perform together.

But the fact that DaNica will join him on stage shouldn’t surprise fans of the show.

During the Season 7 finale, Craig invited DaNica, Taylor Brashears and Sugar Joans to participate in his bring-back performance of “Keep Your Hands to Yourself.”

“We’re working up something (for next week’s show),” Craig said Wednesday. “It should be fun.”

As for the friendship he and DaNica found during the show, he said “we just felt a common thread in each other’s soul and voices. I’m a huge fan of her voice.”

Craig will perform a 7:30 p.m. show next Thursday at the Pullo Center at Penn State York. Tickets are $30 and available here.

I’ll be posting more from my interview with Craig between now and then.

Meanwhile, for those who don’t remember, here’s that performance of “Keep Your Hands to Yourself,” featuring DaNica and the Season 7 champ.
