Hersheypark closes its 2012 summer season this weekend.

And folks who turn out and pay admission to enter the park will have a chance to see former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler perform at the park amphitheater.

Kellie is scheduled to perform at 4 and 6:30 p.m., according to the park website.

There’s no additional charge for the concert.

Now, if you go and haven’t been following the latest Kellie Pickler news, you might be surprised by her appearance.

Earlier this month, Kellie shaved her head, and not as some sort of fashion statement.

She did it in support of a 35-year-old friend named Summer Miller who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Appearing on the Anderson Cooper Live after-show recently, Kellie said the decision to shave off all her blond locks wasn’t difficult after Summer told her about the diagnosis.

“Priorities change,” Kellie said. “Hair is replaceable. People are not.”

Kellie is also performing at a Pinktober event in support of the American Cancer Society on Oct. 13 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville.
