Learn more about American Idol’s Zoanette Johnson

1

I had no idea what to make of Zoanette Johnson’s audition on American Idol Thursday night.

From the opening clip of Zoanette dancing with other contestants, it looked for all the world like one of those joke auditions.

And the tone never changed. Not even during Zoanette’s bizarre rendition of the national anthem.

But the judges seemed thoroughly entertained.

They even rewarded the 19-year-old from Tulsa, Okla., with a surprise golden ticket to Hollywood.

Can Zoanette really sing? I’m still not certain.

But she’s apparently always as exuberant as she was during her Idol audition.

On an interview with FOX in Minnesota this morning, Zoanette couldn’t sit still and, at one point, pounded her chest — right where her microphone was pinned, thank you — to make a point.

She said she’s actually from Liberia, her parents are pastors and she stood up in church at a young age and declared she wanted to be on American Idol.

Why audition for Idol in Season 12?

That’s easy. Nicki Minaj is a judge. After all, some have dubbed Zoanette “Crazy Barbie.”

“Crazy meets crazy,” proclaims Zoanette.

Thanks, Nicki.
