Ché Chesterman of American Idol Season 23

Ché Chesterman is among the artists who auditioned for Season 23 of American Idol.

American Idol returns Sunday, March 9 with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie returning as judges. They’ll be joined by Carrie Underwood, who replaces Katy Perry.

Here’s more about Ché.

* He’s a 28-year-old singer from Essex, England, with a big soulful voice and impressive range.

* And he’s best known for making the finals of Season 12 of The X Factor UK in 2015. He finished third and participated in the live tour that followed the season.

* Original American Idol judge Simon Cowell gave Ché a standing ovation when he auditioned for The X Factor with Jessie J’s “Who You Are” at age 18.

* Today, Ché is married with two children and child number three, a son, on the way.

* He also has three songs out on streaming sites. His most popular, with more than 250,000 streams on Spotify, is “Another Man,” his first release after The X Factor. His most recent is a song called “Home,” which dropped in October.

* Below, check out “Heaven,” a lovely song Ché recorded in 2021 as a tribute to his father and grandfather, who had recently passed.

* Ché apparently spent 2024 performing at Sheesh restaurant in the UK. “I’ve had some of the best moments at this place with these people this year and its been about so much more than just music.”

* Music apparently runs in his family. He father auditioned for The X Factor in 2006 and earned a spot on the show.

* According to an X Factor bio, Ché studied music in school, realized his passion for performing, became lead singer of a band called Jinx and auditioned after the band broke up.

* In an interview with Metro in UK, Ché noted this year marks his last opportunity to try American Idol because he’s now 28.

* “After I finished X Factor, I didn’t really come out and hit it while it was hot so I want to take advantage of that this time,” he told the site. “I want to release songs. That’s the whole point of doing this. [I’m] trying to reach heights that I probably haven’t reached before.”
